I did not set out to write a book, or to design a framework. I spent most of my life on the practical realities of work, family, and business — across many countries, cultures, and institutions. What stayed with me was a question I could never quite put down: why do so many capable people, inside so many well-intentioned institutions, keep producing outcomes so far short of what we are capable of? The answer I arrived at was structural, not political.

Commons World is free, for everyone, always — I take no personal profit from it. The books were written with openly credited AI collaboration, Claude and ChatGPT among them; the final judgment on every page is mine, but the help is named, not hidden. None of this belongs to me. At best, I am an early steward of an idea whose value others will decide.

What I hope is simple: read the field guide, gather a few people around a table, and begin. Commons Community only needs one copy and one conversation to start.
